The Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year falls on the 5th of February this year. In the heart of the Singapore Chinatown an annual open air night market takes place for about 2 weeks before the Lunar New Year. About 5 streets are closed to traffic and are fully occupied by street vendors selling all kinds of thing needed to properly celebrate Chinese New Year.
Needless to say this place is a colorful noisy bazaar filled with an unimaginable variety of colorful wares and noises. Shopping mixed with dining and road side entertainment fills the air with exotic vibrancy.
Here are some thumbnails of a some scenes one would see as you walk through this crowded and busy market. Click on the pictures to enlarge.
